Start a junk removal business for profit
Starting a junk removal business is perhaps the easiest of businesses to start.

First, get a business license. Search for "get a business license in (my state).Every state has an online licensing program. The process takes 10 minutes. Most licenses are $50. Keep this license in your work truck. Some customers will ask to see your license.

Next, advertise on Craigslist. Check the pricing of your competitors. Set your prices 10% less than your competitors. You will want to be affordable as a new business. If you want to double your calls, put a photo of yourself in your ad--people want to see and trust the companies they hire. Be sure to write an ad that includes all the terms your customers will be searching for, such as: junk hauling, junk removal, landfill, furniture, recycling, yard debris, move out, etc.

Craigslist ads get hundreds of views. You will get calls asking for an estimate. Get important data from the customer. This includes the location of the junk, what type of junk, and where the customer's home is. Now offer a price that makes the job worth your time.

Finally, do the job. If you don't have a truck, rent one from U-Haul or Home Depot for $20. Show up on time or 5 minutes early. Fill your truck. Be smart about packing items so as not to waste space. Some of the items you pick up can be sold again on Craigslist. Keep these items for yourself and relist them on classifieds sites. Dispose of the remaining items at the dump.

You don't even have to take on every job. If the job is too large, decline it. Avoid dangerous jobs involving harmful chemicals. Not worth the risk! There's enough small, easy jobs on Craigslist to make some really needed extra cash each week.
